Fishing on the Lucerne Riviera

The Weggis Corporation fishing area comprises around 12 kilometres of lakeside waters with varying distances, up to 460 m from the shore to the open lake. The fishing association Weggis has been the sole leaseholder of this fishing area since 1999. This means that no professional fishermen are allowed to set nets. So the angler has a practically net-free area at his disposal.

Vitznau also has a lot to offer fishermen: although much of the shore area is privately owned, thanks to the Brougier Park, the boat harbour and especially the area around the Kurpark are ideal places for shore fishermen. If you are travelling by boat, you can fish a wonderful stretch in Vitznau 

Free fishing rights apply. You may fish free of charge with a fishing rod, a float and a simple barbless hook with natural bait (e.g. worm, maggot, bread, corn) from publicly accessible stretches of bank. All other types of fishing are subject to patents and fees.

Fishing licences

Patents are available for different time periods for the Weggis or Vitznau fishing lakes. A joint licence for the Greppen-Weggis-Vitznau areas can also be purchased.
These licences are available at the Tourist Information Weggis or online on the website of the Fischereivereins.

Those who purchase a patent with a validity of more than one month require proof of fishing expertise (Swiss sport fishing licence, SaNa licence, fishing licence).
