By e-bike through the history-steeped Lucerne-Lake Lucerne region on the «Route 1291»​.

Explore the heart of Switzerland on an e-bike! The new «Route 1291» offers e-bikers probably one of the most impressive and historic routes in Switzerland. The start and finish of the circular tour are in the city of Lucerne. The route leads via Weggis, Brunnen and Altdorf to Andermatt. From there it continues over the Furka, Grimsel and Brünig Passes to Lungern, Sörenberg, Entlebuch and finally to the Lucerne countryside regions of Willisau, Sursee, Beromünster as well as Hochdorf. The route of over 300 km is divided into 7 stages and runs along numerous sights, castles and historic towns. The «Route 1291» crosses a varied landscape with palm trees, lakes, mountains, gorges, glaciers and Alpine passes. The many culinary highlights and wineries round off the new e-bike route.

Stage 1: Luzern – Weggis – Brunnen – (mit Schiff) – Flüelen

Stage 2: Flüelen – Andermatt

Stage 3: Andermatt – Furkapass –​ Grimselpass – Meiringen

Stage 4: Meiringen – Lungern – Sörenberg

Stage 5: Sörenberg – Kemmeriboden – Marbarch – Entlebuch

Stage 6: Entlebuch – Luthern – Willisau – Sursee

Stage 7: Sursee – Beromünster – Hochdorf – Luzern

Directions

The Route 1291 starts in the middle of the city of Lucerne. From there, the route leads via Weggis, Brunnen and Altdorf to Andermatt. It continues over the Furka, Grimsel and Brünig Passes to Lungern, Sörenberg, Entlebuch and finally to the Lucerne regions of Willisau, Sursee, Beromünster and Hochdorf. The subsequent journey back to the city of Lucerne concludes the Route 1291.

On this route, pay attention to the signposting on site. On some sections of the route, fast e-bikes (45s with yellow number) are sometimes prohibited. Here you will find the traffic signals and their meaning.


When passing through farms, we thank you on behalf of the farmers for passing through at an adapted, reduced speed.

The Route 1291 shows the Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region  in all its facets: Over alpine passes, through hilly Alpine foothills and past steel-blue lakes. The highlights are the trips over the Furka and Grimsel passes, which are only open from around June to October due to their altitude.
