Hinterbergen is on the south side of Mt. Rigi at an altitude of 1100 m. It is an area of unspoilt natural scenery, boasting impressive biodiversity and stunning views. In just a few minutes up the cable car from Vitznau takes you to the top station and the cosy mountain restaurant. Hinterbergen is an ideal starting point for hikes in the Mt. Rigi area, for example along the Natural Treasures trail to Rigi Kaltbad or via the Vitznauer-/Gersauerstock to the Wissifluh.
There is normally an operator manning the top station in fine weather and for groups. The cable car runs on demand (no timetable).
One very special experience is to take the Hinterbergen cable car by night. Thanks to the automated payment machines at the valley station, Hinterbergen can be reached 24 hours a day, making it the perfect destination for a memorable night-time walk under the full moon.
Groups of more than 8 people are asked to book in advance.

Die Talstation an der Oberdorfstrasse 22 finden Sie wie folgt:
Im Dorfzentrum von der Seestrasse führt die Oberdorfstrasse bei der katholischen Kirche und dem Gasthaus Rütli bergwärts. Nach dem Überqueren der Bahnlinie der Rigi Bahnen, vorbei am Sportplatz erreichen Sie nach ca. 300 m die Talstation der Seilbahn Hinterbergen. Bei der Talstation stehen eine beschränkte Anzahl Parkplätze zur Verfügung.
Zu Fuss erreichen Sie die Talstation von der Busstation / Schiffstation auch direkt durch schmale Gassen und durchs Dorfzentrum in 9 Minuten. Beim Dorfladen Volg rechts bergwärts dem Gufferiweg hinauf, oder beim Hotel Rigi durch den Gersauerweg in die Erlengasse, und weiter oben wieder der Oberdorfstrasse hinauf laufen.
