How would you like to arrive?
Will you be there when top-class bands rock and folklore sounds resound in the Kafistube for three days on the first weekend in July? The spectacular Saturday evening fireworks display over Lake Lucerne is another highlight. Children can have fun in the Luna Park, in the play bus, on the bouncy castle or listening to the Punch and Judy show.
Rose Queen
The star of the Rose Festival is the Rose Queen. She will be elected on Saturday. All ladies who receive more than twenty official red festival roses on Saturday evening are eligible to take part.
History
Inspired by the Daffodil Festival in Montreux, seven young men in the 1920s wanted to establish a small but beautiful folk festival in Weggis. No sooner said than done. The roses that bloomed so abundantly in the gardens of the lakeside community were to become the symbol not only of the festival but also of Weggis. The year 1926 saw the birth of the Weggis Rose Festival. To this day, magnificent fireworks are set off summer after summer.
