History
The oldest building in Weggis that has survived for centuries is the tower of the parish church. The Romanesque tower with the bell storey from 1559 was probably a watchtower or defence tower on the lakeshore, where goods were transhipped to the other shore. It is also possible that the servants of the Pfäfers monastery, to which Weggis once belonged, lived in this tower. Despite various new constructions and alterations to the leaning church, the tower has remained intact.
Weddings
The church has seating for around 360 people. Between 1 and 4 pm on the day of the wedding, the church and the area next to the church are available for decorating, the ceremony and photos.
If you live in one of the lakeside parishes, you can use the church free of charge. Otherwise you pay a flat rate. Please contact the parish secretariat for all details about the wedding ceremony.
