A little gem high above Lake Lucerne. Covering a difference in altitude of 702 metres, the aerial cable car climbs steeply up from Brunnen to the easternmost tip of the Rigi range, the Urmiberg. At 1135 metres above sea level, you get a panoramic view that is hard to beat.

You can simply sit and enjoy the view, letting your gaze wander over the Urnersee lake, or pack your rucksack and set off to explore the Rigi area. Urmiberg is the perfect place for both.

The Timpelweid mountain restaurant is right beside the top station of the cable car and offers a stunning panoramic view from its sunshine terrace.

The Urmiberg is also the starting or finishing point for longer hikes on the Rigi range: you can go uphill to the Gottertli viewpoint, head for Rigi Hochflue or Rigi Scheidegg/Burggeist or walk right over Mt. Rigi as far as Rigi Kulm. Or you can walk down to Lauerz, Brunnen, Gersau or Vitznau.
